Karachi: President and CEO of ARY Digital Network Mr. Salman Iqbal has announced to bear all expenses of National Amateur Golf Championship Omar Khalid.
ARY Laguna will sponsor the 16-year-old Omar for the upcoming Qatar Open Amateur Championship, scheduled at Doha Golf Club from February 25-27.
Mr. Salman made the announcement in the meeting with Omar and Governor Sindh Imran Ismail at Governor House.
Mr.Salman handed ARY Laguna’s jersey to Omar and said that ARY’s logo will be imprinted alongside Pakistan’s logo on his jersey in Qatar Open.
“I met governor last night and we discussed Omar’s abilities and the governor told me that he has a handicap of 2,” President ARY said.
“I researched with former cricket team captain Wasim Akram and we decided to immediately take Omar on board,” he added.
Mr. Salman emphasized that there’s a need to support one-man sport like Tennis and Golf. “I am always advocating the fact that sports is the only place to push youngsters,” he maintained.
It must be noted that Omar won the 60th National Amateur Golf Championship of Pakistan last Sunday. He became the youngest ever player to claim the country’s most prestigious title.

“Played a round of golf with Pakistan’s latest sports sensation. Omar Khalid, who I see as Pakistan sport’s ‘find of the year’ is just 16 and is youngest ever player in history to win the prestigious National Amateur Golf Championship,” Wasim tweeted.
“He is talented & focused bright future ahead,” he added.
