Akhtar gets angry on NZC for warning Pakistan’s National Team

Karachi: Former speedster Shoaib Akhtar bashed New Zealand Cricket (NZC) for their harsh attitude towards Pakistan’s National Team after 6 squad members tested COVID-19 positive.

Taking to his YouTube channel after NZC issued the last warning to the touring party to strictly follow SoPs otherwise they will be sent back, Akhtar said the hosts should have thought it was not a club team but a National team before issuing such a statement.

“What does it mean, ‘we will send you back’? Is it a club team or what? NZC should behave themselves and think before giving a statement regarding a National team,” Akhtar bashed.

“It was really disappointing for me when I heard such a statement from them. I mean Pakistan was not dying to play against them, it’s their home series and they will earn. Instead of being thankful to us for touring in such challenging times, they are adopting such an attitude. It is unbearable,” he maintained.

Meanwhile, the cricketer-turned-Analyst also criticized the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) for being reckless while arranging this tour. “PCB is also equally responsible for this as they sent the team on a commercial flight. I mean when players will sit among 200 more people in a single congested flight, chances of being infected with the virus automatically increases. They should have spent some money to get a chartered plane to minimize this risk,” he said.

“On the other hand, Imam-ul-Haq makes a video on the flight and PCB uploads it, then how can you expect there will be no criticism?” he mentioned.

It must be noted here that six-members of the Pakistani squad tested COVID-19 positive and they have been moved into isolation. The whole team will now serve 14 days in quarantine before going out for training.
