India throws Cricket Australia fixture curveball

Cricket Australia's summer fixture has been thrown a new curveball with reports suggesting India have expressed their reluctance to travel to Brisbane for the fourth Test.

According to Cricbuzz, fears over being pushed into a hard lockdown upon arrival in Queensland have resulted in India wanting to play the final two Tests at the same venue.

"If you look at it, we were quarantining for 14 days in Dubai before landing in Sydney and doing so for another 14 days," an Indian official told Cricbuzz.

"That means we were in a hard bubble for nearly a month before coming out. What we don't want now is to quarantine again at the end of the tour."

India is currently scheduled to travel to Sydney on January 4 before training for two days prior to the third Test at the SCG on January 7.

Despite Queensland having currently shut its borders to NSW, both India and Australia have received exemptions that will allow them to travel to Brisbane for the fourth Test.

News of India's displeasure at having to undergo another quarantine period comes after five of the team's players were investigated for a potential COVID-19 bubble breach.

An Indian fan posted a photo of Rohit Sharma, Rishabh Pant, Shubman Gill, Navdeep Saini and Prithvi Shaw eating at a Melbourne restaurant in an apparent breach of Cricket Australia's strict biosecurity protocols.

CA released a statement on Saturday night, saying that both it and the Board of Control for Cricket in India are seeking to determine whether the outing constitutes a breach of biosecurity protocols.
