The Hobart Hurricanes have prevailed in a thrilling BBL contest against the Brisbane Heat after Heat bowler Mark Steketee was run out off the final ball of the match.
With the Heat requiring two off the last delivery of Scott Boland's over, Steketee hit the ball out to Colin Ingram in the covers, before Ingram scored a direct hit at the non-striker's end.
The decision was sent upstairs to the third umpire and Steketee was found inches short of the line after his bat had bounced off the turf in his desperate dive attempt.
The mayhem on the final delivery saw the Heat finish their 20 overs on 8-149, one run short of the Hurricanes' 150 all out in their batting innings.
Heat young gun James Bazley was stranded at the other end after a brilliant unbeaten 49 off just 31 deliveries that took his side to the brink of victory.
"One of the most extraordinary matches that I can remember," Australian great Adam Gilchrist said on commentary for Fox Cricket.
"If that bat doesn't bounce up, we are in the super over."
The run out drama at the end came after Heat import Lewis Gregory left BBL fans in stitches after delivering "the most remarkable delivery" of the tournament so far.
The incident occurred in the 17th over of the Hobart Hurricanes' innings when he attempted a slower delivery to Hurricanes batsman Tim David.
Gregory appeared to slip at the crease and his ball fell woefully wide of the pitch, landing on the practice wicket as Heat skipper Jimmy Peirson dived full length to save the ball from going to the boundary.
"That is the most remarkable delivery of BBL10. He's fallen over and missed the cut stuff!" Fox Cricket commentator Mark Howard said.
"The off-cutter just went wrong."
With Gregory sprawled on the turf after the delivery, the umpire checked on him before notifying him that it was a no-ball and a free hit for missing the pitch altogether.
"The umpire's come up to him and asked, 'Are you okay mate? By the way, it's a no-ball free hit'," Aussie great Mike Hussey said on commentary.
To make matters worse for Gregory, David slammed the ensuing free hit for six the very next delivery, before being dismissed the following over.
Despite Gregory's embarrassing delivery, the Heat's bowling innings was highlighted by a wonderful spell from Afghan young gun Mujeeb Ur Rahman, who finished with incredible figures of 5-15 off his four overs.
