Karachi: Former international cricketer Shahid Afridi claimed that he and Abdul Razzaq also suffered Amir-like behavior by the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB).
Speaking to reporters on Tuesday, Afridi said Amir’s decision was his own and people should respect it. However, the cricketer claimed that many cricketers suffered similar behavior by the PCB in past.
“It was Amir’s personal decision. He did what he thought was better for him,” he said. “But, PCB has done this to many cricketers in the past. Even, I and Abdul Razzaq also faced such behavior from the cricket board. There is a need to groom PCB as well,” he added.
It must be noted here that Amir parted ways with international cricket citing mental pressure given to him by current team management, especially head coach Misbah-ul-Haq and bowling coach Waqar Younis.
“I can’t bear this mental pressure anymore. I will not play cricket under the current management,” he had said.
Later on, PCB also confirmed that Amir had informed them about his decision to part ways with international cricket, hence he will not be considered for future tours.
