The BBL has once again been marred by umpiring howlers as cricket icon Shane Warne led pleas for the competition to have the DRS system.
Both players and fans were left in disbelief after two shocking decisions in the space of five deliveries in the Adelaide Strikers' innings against the Perth Scorchers.
The decisions put a dampener on an otherwise bright performance from the Strikers who ran out 71-run winners after bowling the Scorchers out for 94 after posting 8-165 in the first innings.
Afghanistan star Rashid Khan, who was recently crowned the ICC's Men's T20I Cricketer of the Decade, was involved in the first incident which occurred in the 18th over.
Up against Scorchers paceman Jhye Richardson, Khan was rapped on the pads with a yorker that looked out for all money, before the umpire gave it not out, much to Richardson and the commentary team's disbelief.
"How could you not give that out?" ex-Aussie great Andrew Symonds said on commentary for Fox Cricket.
"That's cannoning into middle and leg, there's no doubt about that," Adam Gilchrist added.
Just four balls later, a decision went Richardson and the Scorchers' way as he trapped Matt Short LBW with a similar delivery, only for replays to show that Short had hit the ball.
"I reckon that's just come straight off his cricket bat. Oh goodness me," Symonds said.
"I reckon they've just got to sit down and use the technology that's there. This can't keep happening, it's not a good look for the game – and there is technology there that they can use that cuts it out."
The pair of umpiring howlers continued what has been a farcical display from umpires at times, with teams unable to use the DRS system that has become commonplace all over the world.
"I'm sorry but who is in charge of the umpires in Australia? Every game we see horrible mistakes (and) it's embarrassing for the BBL completion," Shane Warne tweeted.
"The Big Bash is a wonderful tournament but it's fast becoming a joke and could ruin players careers. Please can we have DRS immediately!"
Warne was far from the only person on social media to blow up over the latest pair of umpiring howlers.
