Islamabad: Pakistan Navy has awarded honorary lieutenant rank to cricketer Fakhar Zaman for his on-field services for the country.
In a glittering ceremony at Naval Headquarters on Monday, Chief of the Naval Staff, Admiral Muhammad Amjad Khan Niazi awarded the honorary rank to the cricketer who represented Pakistan in three Tests, 47 ODIs, and 40 T20Is.
“We have awarded Fakhar this honor for his services to Pakistan on the cricket field and his affiliation with Navy,” read Pak Navy’s statement released on Monday.
“Zaman joined Pak Navy as a sailor in 2007. He represented the Pakistan Navy cricket team and won many matches. He bagged man-of-the-tournament award while representing Navy in International Defence Cricket Challenge Cup in 2012 in Australia,” the statement added.
