Yasir Shah satisfied with his bowling performance in first innings

Karachi: Leg-spinner Yasir Shah was well pleased with his bowling performance in the first innings of the first Test against New Zealand at Bay Oval in Mount Maunganui.

The 34-year-old said that his role was to support fast bowlers as he took three for 113 in 37 overs. “Pitch favored the pacers and they bowled well. The spinners’ role is to support pacers in the first innings and I succeed in that by bowling good and in the process got some wickets too,” Yasir said in a video released by the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB).

Yasir wants Pakistani batters to stay at the wicket just like the Kiwis did in the first innings, posting 431 in 155 overs.

“They [New Zealand batsmen] were trying to stay at the wickets for a longer period. It would be good for our batters to emulate that,” he added.

It must be noted Pakistan finish at 30/1 at Stumps on Day 2. Shan Masood (10) was the only batsman to dismiss off Kyle Jamieson before the close of play. Abid Ali is not out at 19 and nightwatchman Mohammad Abbas is yet to open his account.
