Out-of-favour Carlton speedster requests trade

Carlton midfielder Sam Petrevski-Seton has requested a trade to West Coast.

The former No.6 draft pick informed Carlton officials of his decision this afternoon, Blues head of football Brad Lloyd has confirmed.

The 23-year-old livewire, whose contract expired at season's end, has not only attracted interest from West Coast but some Victorian clubs, including Essendon.

But Petrevski-Seton, who hails from Halls Creek in north-east Western Australia, has informed Carlton of his desire to return to his home state and specifically West Coast.

The trade request follows a frustrating season with Carlton, in which the out-of-favour Blue struggled to find his mojo playing out of position at half-back as he mustered just 11 AFL games.

A move to the Eagles would see the speedster join a star-studded midfield, headlined by Tim Kelly, Andrew Gaff, Luke Shuey and Dom Sheed, who feast on the elite tap work of Nic Natanui.

Petrevski-Seton arrived at the Blues via pick six in the 2016 national draft and has since played 94 AFL games.
