Salman, Imran help SP stage comeback in Quaid-e-Azam Trophy

Karachi: Centurains Salman Ali Agha and Imran Rafique helped Southern Punjab (SP) beat Sindh by five wickets in Ninth Round to gain the second position at the points table in Quaid-e-Azam Trophy. 

Both the batters scored 141 runs together to help SP stage a strong comeback in the event. Imran scored unbeaten 130 runs off 254 balls with the help of 12 boundaries and two sixes while Salman smashed 100 runs off 112 balls laced with 14 boundaries and two sixes to in SP’s 370-runs chase.

Zain Abbas made 81 runs to provide a steady start to the winning side in the second inning. Tabish Khan bagged three wickets for Sindh.

Earlier, Sindh declared their second inning for 399-5 with a strong 369 runs lead. Saud Shakeel made 123 runs off 157 balls while Asad Shafiq and Saad Ali scored 55 and 62 runs respectively.

For SP, Amir Yamin bagged two wickets.

On the other hand, Central Punjab (CP) and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KPK) held their Ninth Round’s fixture draw.

According to the current situation at the points table, KPK is on top with five wins in nine contests followed by SP with four wins in nine matches. With three victories each, Northern and CP are staged third and fourth on the leader’s table.

Balochistan is at fifth with two wins while Sindh is at last with just a win after nine rounds.
