Young gun's plight exposes Knights cap issues

The Knights are in danger of losing their NSW Cup Player of the Year for the past two years for next season.

Barnstorming back-rower Zac Hosking – the son of former Manly cult hero David 'The Mule' Hosking – is off contract and has yet to receive an offer from the Knights.

Several rival clubs have expressed interest in the 24-year-old, who was a standout in the NSW Cup before the competition was cancelled due to COVID-19.

The Knights want to keep Hosking but have salary cap issues and also have plenty of back-rowers in their top 30 squad.

"He's a great kid and wants to stay but if he has to leave, then Zac will," his manager Steve Gillis told Wide World of Sports.

Dad Dave, a burly prop, played prop, played four seasons at Manly and three at Souths in the 1980s and '90s.
