Eels enforcer escapes ban for shoulder charge

Eels enforcer Junior Paulo has avoided a suspension for a shoulder charge during yesterday's win over the Knights.

Paulo looked to be in strife following a shoulder charge that collected Knights centre Kurt Mann high.

The 27-year-old faces a fine of $1600-$2100 and will be free to face the Panthers on Saturday night.

Meanwhile, Eels back-rower Marata Niukore is also free to play after he was placed on report for a late shot on Knights utility Connor Watson. Niukore is facing a fine of $1800-$2400 for dangerous contact.

For the Knights, Sauaso Sue is facing a two-three week ban for a leg twist on Parramatta winger Blake Ferguson and looks set to miss the opening weeks of the 2022 season.

"That's an unsightly tackle because your joints are only meant to move so many different ways," Parramatta great Peter Sterling said of the incident in commentary for Nine.

"The one leg twist can do some damage: (to the) leg, ankle, anywhere."
