Cronulla Sharks veteran Andrew Fifita has been rushed to hospital after having "trouble breathing" due to a hit to the throat during his team's loss to Newcastle.
Fifita played just 13 minutes in the Sharks' 16-14 loss to the Knights at Redcliffe and came off in the 39th minute for a HIA after colliding with the shoulder of Kurt Mann.
After being cleared of a concussion at half-time, Fifita returned before being taken off again in the 46th minute and was not seen again.

According to Nine's NRL reporter Danny Weidler, the Sharks have "concern he may have a fractured larynx".
Approximately 20 minutes after the match Fifita was brought back out of the sheds onto the field where he was examined by the medical staff on hand before being taken to a nearby hospital in an ambulance.
According to an AAP report, Cronulla called the medical treatment administered to Fifita "precautionary" and he will continue to be monitored in hospital.
Fifita was not the only player to come out of the Sharks-Knights clash under an injury cloud, with Newcastle's Daniel Saifiti sustaining a left knee injury.
The 25-year-old, who has a history of knee injuries, hurt his left knee as he took on four Sharks defenders in a hit-up close to the line.
