Karachi: Arish Ali Khan and Ghulam Mudassar shared seven wickets to help Sindh beat Khyber Pakhtunkhwa by 69 runs in the Second Round of Pakistan Cup One-Day Tournament.
Arish took four while Ghulam bagged three wickets as Sindh bowled out KPK for 212 in reply to the 282-runs target.
Rehan Afridi scored the highest 78 runs off 91 balls in the run-chase for KPK. Apart from Arish and Ghulam, Hassan Khan took two scalps.
Earlier, Sindh posed 281-10 in 50 overs. Jahanzaib Sultan scored 43 runs while Ammad Alam remained unbeaten on 72 runs. Saim Ayub (55) and Rameez Aziz (42) further strengthened Sindh’s total.
Mohammad Amir Khan bagged five wickets for KPK.
Meanwhile, Southern Punjab beat Balochistan by six wickets to win their second consecutive match in the tournament. While batting first, Balochistan scored 229 runs for the loss of 10 wickets. Abdul Wahid Banglazai scored 44 off 81 balls laced with three boundaries and two sixes while Abdul Rehman Muzamil made 45 runs.
For SP, Ahsan Baig bagged three wickets whereas Mohammad Ali Khan and Mohammad Irfan shared two wickets apiece.
In reply, SP chased the target in 43.5 overs with Mukhtar Ahmed scoring an eye-catching century. The right-handed batsman struck 113 runs off 127 balls with the help of 13 boundaries and a six. Waqar Hussain contribute 59 runs to the successful chase.
At TMC Ground, Central Punjab (CP) defeated Northern by three wickets. Northern was able to score just 123 runs with Sohail Akhtar scoring the highest 39 runs off 73 balls.
Sohaibullah, Mohammad Ali, Raza Ali Dar, and Haseeb ur Rehman bagged two wickets each for CP.
In reply, CP chased the target in 36.3 overs. Mohammad Faiq played 39 runs knock while Mohammad Irfan Khan scored 21 runs off 40 balls.
For Northern, Farhan Shafiq and Salman Irshad bagged two wickets each.
