‘Want to create history like Imran Khan, Jahangir Khan’ Usman Wazeer

Karachi: Usman Wazeer said he wants to create history for Pakistan just like former Test cricketer and current Prime Minister Imran Khan and legendary squash player Jahangir Khan.

“My aim is to win the Youth World Championship to become the first Pakistani boxer to accomplish this feat. In the next five years, I want to create history just like Imran Khan and Jahangir Khan,” he told ARY Sports exclusively on the sidelines of the weigh-in ceremony ahead of his Asian Boxing Federation (ABF) Asian Title defending fight on December 19.

Talking about his fight against former WBO Asian Champion BS Lopez of Indonesia, Usman said he is confident to defend his title and give his fans a moment to cheer. “I am completely ready to fight against Lopez,” he said. “I know he is not an easy opponent as he has several titles under his belt including WBO Asian Title but I have full confidence in my preparation, Inshallah I will win this fight,” he added.

Moreover, Usman said he is happy to see the revival of boxing in Pakistan and new talent coming up to pursue this sport as a profession. “Last time when I won my fight, there were very few people excited about this sport but now the craze and excitement is on another level. People of Pakistan want to see boxing events and I hope that by 2021, the interest in boxing will increase in the country,” he concluded.

It must be noted here that Usman Wazeer will defend his Asian title here on December 19 under the banner of Hussain Shah Promotion.
