Former Australian paceman Brett Lee has been forced to leave the Adelaide Test to head home after Sydney's Northern Beaches COVID-19 outbreak.
Lee is a resident of the Northern Beaches and is one of a number of staff members from both broadcasters Fox Sports and Channel 7 who have been sent home after the cluster.
According to the Daily Telegraph, Lee has no symptoms of the virus and has not been to any of the notified hot spots.
Cricket Australia has sent an urgent memo for any media covering the first Test who had visited the Northern Beaches in the past three weeks to contact them as soon as possible.
Sydney is currently scheduled to host the third Test of the Border-Gavaskar series on January 7, but it remains to be seen of the match is required to be moved.
Queensland looms as a potential option, although Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk has already rejected the Indian cricket team.
The state earlier relinquished the right to host white ball fixtures between Australia and India after it was not satisfied with the biosecurity protocols around the Indian team.
Another option could be to play both the second and third Test of the series at the Melbourne Cricket Ground, with Victoria having no locally acquired cases of COVID-19 in over a month.
