Australian debutant Cam Green has revealed why he was forced to give up the ball to Pat Cummins after looking like he was ready to bowl his first delivery yesterday.
Green began warming up at Cummins' end, only for Cummins to then give his cap to the umpire and ask for the ball, leaving the young gun red-faced.
Speaking to Fox Cricket, the 21-year-old has revealed that it was a misunderstanding on his part.
"Tim Paine said, 'You've got five minutes to get ready' and Patty hadn't even started his over beforehand," he said.
"Overs normally take three or four minutes so in my head I'm doing the math and thinking I've got the next one.
"Then he might have said five overs' time instead of five minutes. There were a few things going through my head so I wasn't thinking too clearly."
The youngster also reveals that he has come into the match with a restriction on how many overs he can bowl.
"There were a couple of restrictions going into the game, but when you play Test match cricket those restrictions can be bended a little bit. I'll see how it goes," he said.
