Rizwan, Babar set another world record

PROVIDENCE: Mohammad Rizwan continued his brilliant form in T20Is as he registered yet another world record in the shorter format of the game.

Rizwan scored crucial 46 runs for Pakistan against West Indies in the second T20I today and became the highest run-scorer in T20Is in a calendar year with 752 runs. The previous highest was 748 by Ireland’s Paul Stirling in 2019.

Promoted as an opener in T20Is, Rizwan scored a hundred and seven half-centuries so far this year. He also became the only third Pakistani batsman to score a hundred each in all three formats. Also, he is the only Pakistani wicket-keeper batsman to score a hundred in T20Is.

On the other hand, Pakistani skipper Babar Azam also recorded another record after scoring 51 runs off 40 balls. It was his 20th T20I fifty coming up in his 59th T20I, quickest-ever followed by Virat Kohli (62) and Rohit Sharma (99).

He and Rizwan have scored 1275 runs together this year, more than the rest of the Pakistani batters who scored a sum of 896 runs so far.
