Veteran Papua New Guinea Test winger David Mead is set to return to Australia after three years in Super League to bolster the ranks of the Broncos.
A proven try poacher with nearly 100 touchdowns to his name, 32-year-old Mead is quitting French club Catalans and is close to signing a deal with the Broncos.
After starting his career with the Titans in 2016, Mead played one season in Brisbane in 2017, scoring three tries in 12 games.
He has been solid without being spectacular in his time in Super League but the Broncos feel his experience will help their young backline.
Mead is one of the fastest players in the rugby league world and has scored many spectacular tries in his 12 seasons in the big time.
He has played 14 Tests for PNG, where he is regarded as a national hero.
The speedy flanker won't cost the Broncos much in the salary cap and could prove a handy addition to the club's depth.
