Michael Zerafa's team feels "uncomfortable" travelling to Newcastle for next week's fight amid Sydney's COVID-19 lockdown as fresh doubt clouds his much anticipated clash with Tim Tszyu.
The heavily hyped fight has hit several hurdles and appears to be facing another roadblock, with Zerafa's trainer Sam Labruna taking to social media last night to air the team's concerns.
"I will be speaking to the Victorian government tomorrow as to the advice on the current covid situation," he wrote.
"The team's safety and well being comes first and once we get full clarification on what lies ahead we will be in a better position to comment and act accordingly, it's unfortunate but it's out of our hands."

The match up has already undergone changes in accordance with state-wide health orders, with a reduced crowd expected to attend. The clash was a sell-out within days of tickets going on sale.
With the COVID situation currently in better shape in Victoria, the Zerafa camp will need to gain confirmation about their passage back into their home state after the fight and are loathe to leave. It's understood members of the team are concerned the outbreak may spread to Newcastle.
The NSW government has assured Zerafa that he will be given an exemption to travel to Newcastle according to promoters.
Talks are still ongoing between promoters No Limit, the NSW government and venue operators. An update on the situation is due around midday (AEST) today.
However, all the guarantees may not convince team Zerafa, with Labruna telling Main Event's Ben Damon: "I'm still waiting on more advice but at this stage the majority of the team aren't comfortable making the trip."
