The Cronulla Sharks have pulled off a major coup by signing Melbourne Storm utility Nicho Hynes to a three-year deal.
According to a report by the Daily Telegraph, the deal beginning from 2022 is worth $1.8 million.
The 24-year-old's signature had been one of the most sought after in recent times after he revealed he would be willing to leave the Storm if it meant he could secure a starting role elsewhere.
While it's understood Hynes had drawn interest from a number of clubs including the Raiders and Warriors, he made it known publicly last month that the Broncos were a club that had spoken to him prior to tonight's announcement.
The Sharks confirmed the signing tonight in a statement.
"The Sharks have secured the services of Nicho Hynes, with the Storm star signing a long-term deal with the Cronulla club," the statement read.
"The new contract, which will see Hynes join the Sharks for the start of their 2022 campaign, is for three years, running through until the end of the 2024 season."
Hynes this season has been made to cover for fullback Ryan Papenhuyzen and playmaker Cameron Munster, who have both been impacted by injuries.
Since coming into the starting lineup back in Round Seven, Hynes has notched 11 try assists and nine line-breaks through his past six games.
He will join the Sharks, who this season are currently sitting 12th on the ladder with just four wins to their name.
