The already slim Origin chances of Parramatta's Reagan Campbell-Gillard have taken a further hit, after the Eels enforcer was charged by the match review committee.
Campbell-Gillard is facing the prospect of missing Parramatta's match with Souths next Saturday, after being charged with a grade two careless high tackle, for a hit on Haumole Olakau'atu in yesterday's 28-6 loss to Manly.
It would have been the 27-year-old's last chance to impress New South Wales coach Brad Fittler before the team for Origin I is named.
Instead, Campbell-Gillard will miss one match if he takes the early guilty plea, and two if he's found guilty at the judiciary.
The news is better for Queensland's Daly Cherry-Evans, who escaped a charge, despite being put on report during the match for a high shot on Mitchell Moses.
Penrith's Kurt Capewell, who started all three games for Queensland in last year's Origin series, is the other player facing a suspension after yesterday's matches. He'll miss one week for an early plea after being charged with a crusher tackle, and due to his seven-year incident-free record, the suspension won't rise even if he's found guilty at the judiciary. The ban does not endanger his Origin selection.
A further three players are facing fines out of yesterday's matches.
Manly's Toafofoa Sipley and Karl Lawton, along with Parramatta's Waqa Blake (two separate counts) are looking at fines ranging from $1150 to $2250.
