Geelong's cheer squad has been left deeply upset after the club's decision to opt against running through a banner at the start of the game for the rest of the year.
While there were no banners last season in a COVID-19 interrupted year, all of Geelong's rivals have continued the long-standing AFL tradition this season.

Instead of running through a banner before games, Geelong's players will run through a guard of honour given to them by a selected few cheer squad members each week.
The Cats' cheer squad was left blindsided by the call, which has disrupted a rich tradition of banner-making being passed down from generation to generation.
"We had no communication with them until yesterday after I'd spoken to the Geelong Advertiser," Tanya Harmer, a Geelong cheer squad member, told 3AW.
"They finally did send the cheer squad members an email and it just stated that the players had been consulted about it and were supportive of not having the banner and that they won't be looking at it again until the end of the year.
"This is the part that we're quite frustrated about because there's been no communication to us.
"It's something that even my grand daughter now has been down to make the banner, all my kids have.
"It's not the same and it never will be the same as putting your heart and soul into making a banner and having those players run through it."
