Ronaldo is now the greatest goal scorer ever

It's not as certain as his genius ability on the pitch, but Portuguese superstar Cristiano Ronaldo is now potentially the top goal scorer in football history.

The gun forward today netted a 64th-minute goal off a corner as Juventus powered to a 2-0 victory over Napoli to seize the Italian Super Cup.

That goal moved Ronaldo to 760 official career goals from 1040 games, pushing him ahead of Czech legend Josef Bican, while Pele (757), Romario (743) and Messi (719) round out the top five.

However, there is conjecture over the accuracy of the leaderboard.

Pele and Romario are believed to have snared more than 1000 goals and Bican more than 800, but those totals take into account goals in friendly, amateur and unofficial games and their official numbers are only estimates.

Ronaldo snagged the first goal of Juventus' clash with Napoli and Alvaro Morata added a second in injury time.

The win marked Ronaldo's 30th career title and the first for manager Andrea Pirlo, a legend of Italian football.
