While Huawei have a great foothold in the tech world, they aren’t particularly reputed for their audio products but their offering with the Sound Joy does set them apart.
A shrewd move in developing this product was to partner up with Devialet, a high-end French luxury audio brand, to co-engineer the speaker.
The Sound Joy bears a striking resemblance to the JBL Flip but does boast a more high-end look. It comes with RGB lighting as well that can sync up to the audio but only on Android devices.
They even manage to bring a premium look to the rubber buttons while the quality of the lace strap is another little detail that makes it more pleasing on the eye.
It’s a little taller and heavier than its competitors but still makes for a great indoor/outdoor speaker.
The NFC pairing button makes connecting to a device via Bluetooth seamless. The 5.2 speaker has great range and stability. It can survive under water at 1 metre for over 30 minutes.
It’s 8800 MAH battery offers 26 hours of playback which is a massive step up from UE Boom’s 15 hours. It also supports fast-charging which can give you 1 hour of playback in just 10 minutes. The battery will charge up completely in 3 hours.
Another useful feature is the Sound Joy’s ability to sync up with another of its kind by simply shaking it.
The Huawei Sound Joy does a find job when it comes to audio performance with its punchy bass particularly standing out. It boasts a powerful sound with its 20W full-frequency speaker, 10W silk dome tweeter, and two passive radiators.
VERDICT
It’s a fantastic all-round speaker with plenty of features and all available at a very reasonable price. However, iPhone users have every right to feel apprehensive as they won’t be able to tap into the Sound Joy’s full potential.
