Masroor named as Northern’s interim head coach for Pakistan Cup

Karachi: Mohammad Masroor has been named as interim head coach of Northern in the absence of Mohammad Wasim for the upcoming first XI Pakistan Cup.

The 42-year-old Wasim has taken the charge as chief selector of the national team. His tenure ended as Northern head coach after team failed to qualify in the final of the Quaid-e-Azam Trophy.

Masroor was with the side as assistant coach in QeA Trophy and in order to ensure consistency in the team, Masroor was given the charge as head of coaching panel for the upcoming One-Day tournament.

“Masroor was working with Wasim and we decided not to appoint a new individual as it will create disturbance among the side ahead of all-important One-Day tournament,” Director NHPC Nadeem Khan said.

It must be noted that the Pakistan Cup One-Day Tournament will be played from 8-31 January in Karachi.
