Mexico is still deeply passionate about soccer, but extravagant ticket prices have shined a spotlight on income inequality and affordability issues, leaving some fans indifferent. Locals have also been turned off by a lackluster Mexican national team and the country being billed as a co-host but having a relatively small role with only about 13% of the World Cup’s 104 matches held there.
