Update:<\/strong> Teenage NRL sensation Joseph Suaalii<\/a> has been officially ruled out for the rest of the 2021 season after the Roosters youngster suffered a foot injury.<\/p>\n

The Sydney Roosters confirmed today that Suaalii was assessed by team medical staff after their Round 17 victory over the Bulldogs, when the injury was diagnosed.<\/p>\n

"Joseph Suaalii sustained a lis franc injury to the foot. Scans concluded that it needed to be surgically stabilised," the Roosters said in a statement.<\/p>\n

"Suaalii has undergone surgery and rehabilitation is expected to take approximately five months."<\/p>\n

Suaalii is now added to the Roosters' 2021 casualty ward that already includes Lindsay Collins and Luke Keary following the concussion-related retirements of skipper Boyd Cordner and veteran Jake Friend.<\/p>\n

The 17-year-old who is currently studying for his HSC, has had surgery on his injured foot and as a result he has been kept from travelling with the Roosters to their Sunshine Coast base in Queensland.<\/p>\n

The NRL's Sydney teams – as well as Newcastle and Canberra – have had to relocate north in a bid to keep the 2021 competition going, uninterrupted amid a COVID-19 outbreak in NSW.<\/p>\n
