Carlton star Charlie Curnow<\/a> is "super confident" he can regain his pre-injury form as he gets set to play in his first game since 2019.<\/p>\n

Curnow will take the field with Carlton's VFL side this weekend, playing heavily restricted minutes as he aims to gradually build up his loads after a run of knee injuries.<\/p>\n

The 24-year-old has endured five separate knee issues<\/a> since injuring his medial ligament in a match against Fremantle in July 2019, dragging a once-promising career to a halt.<\/p>\n

"I'm pumped," Curnow told Nine News Melbourne ahead of his VFL comeback. "Looking forward to this weekend, it's going to be pretty good."<\/p>\n

"It's obviously been really hard but I've had a good support group around me [with] my family and people at the club. I'm just ready to play football and to start enjoying it again."<\/p>\n

When asked if he could regain the form which saw him kick 34 goals in 20 games back in 2018, Curnow didn't mince his words.<\/p>\n

"That's the plan, I'm super confident," he said.<\/p>\n

"[Carlton Director of High Performance] Andrew 'Jack' Russell and the team who are putting me out there have done a great job so I'm looking forward to it."<\/p>\n
