Payne Haas<\/a> is set to be a Bronco for life with the NSW Origin star on the verge of signing a monster 10-year, $10 million deal to remain in Brisbane.<\/p>\n

According to News Corp, Haas and Broncos powerbrokers are in discussions over a deal which would see him become the highest-paid prop in NRL history as well as the highest paid player in Brisbane Broncos<\/a> history.<\/p>\n

Haas would become the second NRL player to sign a decade-long contract, joining North Queensland Cowboys star Jason Taumalolo<\/a>, who inked his own 10-year deal in 2017.<\/p>\n

Newly-installed Broncos football boss Ben Ikin said the club had "no plans" to lose the 21-year-old having lost a number of young stars in recent years, including teen duo Reece Walsh<\/a> and Sam Walker<\/a> as well as David Fifita<\/a>. Another youngster, Xavier Coates, has already agreed to a deal with the Melbourne Storm<\/a> for next season and beyond.<\/p>\n

"Keeping him at the club is always on our radar, it's not something that ever drops off," Ikin told News Corp. "We would like to think Payne wants to be here for the long-term."<\/p>\n

"The Broncos certainly want to keep him and as the conversation continues [with his agent], hopefully we can at some point land on something we are both happy with at the right time."<\/p>\n

Despite the run of players walking out of Red Hill lately, Haas agent, PSM director Chris Orr, said the youngster "has confidence in his coaches, fellow players and head office".<\/p>\n

It is understood that over 10 of Brisbane's rival clubs have contacted Haas' management regarding his future. Haas could have commanded in excess of $900,000 annually on the open market if he were to leave the Broncos.<\/p>\n

Brisbane is aiming to turn around its culture with the hiring of Ikin and new CEO Dave Donaghy, who arrived after a highly successful stint with the Melbourne Storm.<\/p>\n

It has been a tumultuous first season in charge for coach Kevin Walters<\/a>, who has been forced to fight off rumours of a player revolt<\/a> with his club sitting second-last on the ladder.<\/p>\n

Haas' long-term commitment to the club would be another show of faith in Ikin, who has set about rebuilding the roster since his arrival. <\/p>\n

The Broncos have already secured the signature of Queensland Origin player Kurt Capewell<\/a> while Adam Reynolds will also join the club next season.<\/p>\n
