{"id":97247,"date":"2021-07-08T21:38:35","date_gmt":"2021-07-08T21:38:35","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/sportinfo.pro\/?p=97247"},"modified":"2021-07-08T23:57:15","modified_gmt":"2021-07-08T23:57:15","slug":"dellavedova-signs-with-nbl-giants-report","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/sportinfo.pro\/?p=97247","title":{"rendered":"Dellavedova signs with NBL giants: report"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>NBA champion and Boomers star <a href=\"https:\/\/wwos.nine.com.au\/basketball\/matthew-dellavedova\" title=\"Matthew Dellavedova\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Matthew Dellavedova<\/a> is headed back to Australia after reportedly signing a deal with Melbourne United.<\/p>\n<p>The signing is one of the biggest in the NBL&#x27;s history, with Dellavedova among Australia&#x27;s greatest basketball exports.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/OlgunUluc\/status\/1413249072467636226\" rel=\"nofollow\" class=\"embed-social embed-twitter\" data-show-caption=\"false\" data-conversation=\"none\">https:\/\/twitter.com\/OlgunUluc\/status\/1413249072467636226<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Having played nearly 10 years in the NBA with the <a href=\"https:\/\/wwos.nine.com.au\/basketball\/nba-team-usa-joe-harris-adopts-matthew-dellavedova-coffee-habit-at-brooklyn-nets\/8ccd3177-5caa-465b-8c76-af14fdbdd6e3\" title=\"Cleveland Cavaliers\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Cleveland Cavaliers<\/a> and Milwaukee Bucks, the 30-year-old Victorian will be a huge boost for the reigning NBL champions.<\/p>\n<p>The guard won an NBA championship ring in 2016 alongside LeBron James in Cleveland and has been a mainstay in the Boomers since 2009, bringing with him plenty of experience to an already stacked Melbourne United team.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/matthewdelly\/status\/1412873774018428930\" rel=\"nofollow\" class=\"embed-social embed-twitter\">https:\/\/twitter.com\/matthewdelly\/status\/1412873774018428930<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Dellavedova spent his first three seasons in the NBA with the Cavaliers, before joining the Bucks after winning the Larry O&#x27;Brien Trophy. He spent another three seasons in Milwaukee and then re-joined Cleveland in 2018. <a href=\"https:\/\/wwos.nine.com.au\/basketball\/aussie-matthew-dellavedova-resigns-with-the-cavaliers\/02faacbe-35ae-492e-b829-42dd21cf2094\" title=\"Last year Dellavedova re-signed on a one-year deal\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Last year Dellavedova re-signed on a one-year deal<\/a> and with that contract now complete, it paved the way for his return to Australia.<\/p>\n<p>The news of Dellavedova joining United comes a day after the team announced the signing of veteran dual Olympian Brad Newley from rivals, the Sydney Kings.
