Balmain Tigers legend Benny Elias says watching the Wests Tigers<\/a> "kills [him] every weekend" amid the team's shocking form this season.<\/p>\n

Elias' beloved team was blitzed 38-22 by the Rabbitohs in Round 16<\/a>, with the dismal performance causing league great Andrew Johns to call the match a "training gallop" for South Sydney. <\/p>\n

The woeful outing against South Sydney continued what has turned into a horror season for Michael Maguire<\/a>'s men, who currently sit 14th on the ladder with just 10 points.<\/p>\n

Elias, who played in 234 games for Balmain between 1982 and 1994, declared that he could not bear to watch the team anymore.<\/p>\n

"It's going from bad to worse," he told 2GB's Wide World of Sports Radio.<\/p>\n

"You think this week we're going to come good and we're going to turn things around, but there's a lot of things you've got to look at and it's just been very, very frustrating. It kills me every weekend watching this side. <\/p>\n

"I know that Madge puts his whole heart in, it's just one of those positions at the moment where I've got no answers. You just shake your head."<\/p>\n

Maguire has tried mightily to change both the results and culture at the club but as yet, has been unsuccessful.<\/p>\n

2005 premiership-winning coach Tim Sheens has returned to the fold to help the struggling club, and league great Peter Sterling suggested that he could help Maguire<\/a>.<\/p>\n

"It always stops with the [coach]. The circuit breaker might be Tim Sheens, might be his introduction," Sterling said. "Another voice, another sounding board for Michael Maguire.<\/p>\n

"Tim I don't think has aspirations to be a head coach but he can be someone – with his experience, he's a premiership winner multiple times, been around the game forever – might just be somebody who can come in and help Madge in certain areas to gets Wests Tigers on the right course, because they're all over the place at the moment and no, I haven't seen improvement in them.<\/p>\n

"They won't play finals football and that drought is getting longer and longer."<\/p>\n
