Former State of Origin and Test forward Paul Vaughan<\/a> is facing a huge hit to the hip pocket, after the Dragons reportedly resolved to sack the 30-year-old immediately.<\/p>\n

Vaughan has been under fire after he hosted a house party for 12 teammates<\/a> at his Shellharbour property on the weekend, in breach of both NSW health guidelines and NRL COVID prototcols.<\/p>\n

Multiple sources are reporting a Dragons board meeting has signed off on the decision to sack Vaughan, who is contracted until the end of 2022. His deal for next season alone is reported to be worth more than $800,000.<\/p>\n

Any deal he can pick up with a rival club for 2022, or in the English Super League, is unlikely to be anywhere near that kind of money. He'll also forfeit around $250,000 in earnings for the remainder of this season.<\/p>\n

Vaughan was one of 13 players handed a breach notice by the NRL last night<\/a>, fined $50,000 and suspended for eight matches for hosting the party at his Shellharbour property.<\/p>\n

A repeat offender, it's Vaughan's second COVID breach in the last 12 months.<\/a><\/p>\n

"No one's happy with what Paul Vaughan's done, actually the whole lot of those boys," Dragons boss Ryan Webb said this morning.<\/p>\n

"But everyone's disappointed with what's happened and Paul having multiple breaches definitely doesn't help."<\/p>\n
