The Force have continued their major off-season renovations by confirming the key signing of Crusaders winger Manasa\u00a0Mataele\u00a0on a two year contract.\u00a0<\/p>\n

The 24-year-old has played 33\u00a0Super Rugby games for the Crusaders since his debut in 2017 and is line to make his Test debut for Fiji against the All Blacks in Dunedin on Saturday.<\/p>\n

But Mataele is not a regular starter for the stacked Crusaders who boast Will Jordan, Sevu Reece, George Bridge and Leicester Fainga'anuku among their outside backs.<\/p>\n

"This is a really exciting opportunity that I couldn't pass up," Mataele said.<\/p>\n

Force\u00a0head of rugby Matt Hodgson was naturally delighted to add such firepower to the squad.<\/p>\n

"Manasa\u00a0is an extremely talented player who has shown his ability on the big stage in Super Rugby throughout his career," Hodgson said.<\/p>\n

"At just 24, his best rugby is ahead of\u00a0him,\u00a0and he adds plenty of creativity to our backline. He's an entertaining player who is sure to excite\u00a0the Sea of Blue."\u00a0<\/p>\n

Mataele joins Brumbies backline quartet Issak Fines-Leleiwasa, Bayley Kuenzle, Reesjan Pasitoa and Reece Tapine in signing in Perth through to the end of 2023.<\/p>\n

The Force are rebuilding after farewelling a long list of players including Rob Kearney, Tevita Kuridrani, Tomas Cubelli, Domingo Miotti, Tomas Lezana, Jordan Olowofela, Henry Taefu, Jono Lance, Kieran Longbottom, Marcel Brache, Chris Heiberg and Jonah Placid.<\/p>\n
