RABBLE RAIDERS CLAIM UNWANTED TITLE<\/strong><\/h2>\n

There's still plenty of football to be played this season, but the Raiders can already take the award as the biggest flops of 2021.<\/p>\n

The Bulldogs, Broncos, Cowboys, Dragons, Knights, Titans and Tigers have all had awful patches of form – but the Raiders have been consistently worse.<\/p>\n

For a team tipped by some experts to reach the grand final, the Raiders have imploded and hit rock bottom in the 44-6 thrashing by the Titans<\/a> at home on Saturday night.<\/p>\n

The loss was the Raiders ninth in 11 games and they set the remarkable achievement of becoming the first team in history to concede three tries while the opposition had a player in the sin bin.<\/p>\n

The Raiders aren't a happy camp – the George Williams saga clearly illustrated that – but have far too much talent to miss the finals, which now seems a certainty.<\/p>\n

FOXX BUSTS BOGEY WITH HAT-TRICK<\/strong><\/h2>\n

You wouldn't believe it as he roared in for his hat-trick on Thursday night, but the Roosters have been Josh Addo-Carr's bogey team for much of his career.<\/p>\n

'The Foxx' has his worst strike rate against the Roosters of all the clubs in the NRL, with just five tries in 11 games prior to the massacre in Newcastle.<\/p>\n

Addo-Carr went a long way to improving that average with his scintillating hat-trick as the Storm put their long-time rivals to the sword<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The win completed a big week for 'The Fox', who was great in the Blues' series-clinching win over the Maroons four nights earlier.<\/p>\n

NORMAN UNDERLINES MECURIAL BRILLIANCE<\/strong><\/h2>\n

Corey Norman is one of the most enigmatic players in the NRL – and the Dragons' last gasp win over the luckless Warriors only served to highlight that.<\/p>\n

In a sloppy Dragons outfit, Norman had a 'shocker'.<\/p>\n

He looked barely interested at times, took poor options, missed six tackles, didn't take a hit-up all game and kicked one goal from five attempts.<\/p>\n

But then when the game was there to be won and lost in golden point, Norman showed his class to nail a pressure field goal to give the Dragons a miracle win<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Norman won't be at the Dragons next year but under a Craig Bellamy or Wayne Bennett, he could still have something to offer if he gets his head screwed on right, such is his natural talent.<\/p>\n

PANTHERS RAKE FINDS FORM AT RIGHT TIME<\/strong><\/h2>\n

Apisai Koroisau has had a relatively quiet season by his standards at Penrith, content to provide quick service from dummy-half to star halves Nathan Cleary and Jarome Luai.<\/p>\n

But with Cleary missing against the Eels on Friday night, the classy little hooker stepped up and was the difference between the teams in a 13-12 thriller<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The former Souths and Sea Eagles number nine scored a vital try and constantly menaced the Eels defence from dummy-half.<\/p>\n

It's the perfect time for Koroisau to return to form because with Luai now also injured, he becomes the Panthers' main man in attack in coming weeks.<\/p>\n

RETURNED PONGA TURBO-CHARGES KNIGHTS<\/strong><\/h2>\n

As if we didn't know it before, Kalyn Ponga showed that he is the Knights' Tommy Turbo against the Cowboys.<\/p>\n

The Knights have struggled to score points every game Ponga misses – in their previous four games, they failed to score more than 10 points.<\/p>\n

But with Ponga back on deck – and playing a blinder – they smashed the Cowboys 38-0<\/a> on Saturday.<\/p>\n

If the Knights can keep the two 'P''s – Mitchell Pearce and Ponga – healthy in coming weeks, they will win more games than they lose.<\/p>\n

FRESH TURBO ROARS PAST BEST TRY HAUL<\/strong><\/h2>\n

Speaking of Turbo Tom, he has played a mere nine games this season – but has already posted more tries than in any other of his seven seasons in the NRL.<\/p>\n

His hat-trick against the under-manned Bulldogs<\/a> – and he could easily have scored two or three more – takes Trbojevic to 14 tries for the year.<\/p>\n

His previous highest was 12 tries in 2017 – when he played 23 games!<\/p>\n

The lanky fullback is in scary form and how many he will finish the season with is anyone's guess.<\/p>\n
