Alja Tomljanovic's Wimbledon<\/a> foe Jelena Ostapenko has form, ex-Australian player Casey Dellacqua said after their explosive confrontation<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Tomljanovic branded Ostapenko a liar after the Latvian player claimed injury and took a medical timeout during the final set of their third round match. The Australian player had won seven consecutive games and led 4-0 in the decider.<\/p>\n

"Ostapenko's got a reputation, I believe, of not being the fairest competitor on tour," Dellacqua said on Sports Sunday<\/em>.<\/p>\n

"I'm really proud of Alja for standing up to Ostapenko in this regard because it's a constant battle with the tour in this medical timeouts at a point in the match, someone trying to change the momentum; we see it all the time.<\/p>\n

"I'm really, really proud that Alja called it out. Alja had every right to stand up."<\/p>\n

Tomljanovic called Ostapenko's behaviour "disrespectful" and "disgraceful", saying that it was even worse coming from a former French Open champion.<\/p>\n

Ostapenko, during a post-match confrontation with Tomljanovic, told the Aussie: "Your behaviour is terrible, terrible … So bad. The worst player on tour."<\/p>\n

Tomljanovic ultimately won the match to reach the final 16. Dellacqua said that medical timeouts were only meant to be for 'acute injury', which Ostapenko had clearly not suffered.<\/p>\n

"When you go on court and you perhaps roll your ankle and you're down and out, OK, medical timeouts are fair enough," Dellacqua said.<\/p>\n

"But that didn't look like an acute injury to me."<\/p>\n

Tomljanovic said that the incident was clearly gamesmanship.<\/p>\n

"She can say she was injured. I don't think she was," said Tomljanovic. <\/p>\n

"There was nothing wrong with her the whole match, but then why on 4-0 she calls it? So I think that that's a clear reason that she just wanted to get me off my game."<\/p>\n
