Bulldogs coach Trent Barrett says he hopes the club's five sanctioned players "feel disappointed with themselves" after Canterbury was on the end of a 66-0 thrashing<\/a> at the hands of Manly today.<\/p>\n

The Bulldogs earlier this week copped a $50,000 fine after Dylan Napa, Brandon Wakeham, Corey Waddell, Sione Katoa and Aaron Schoupp broke COVID-19 protocols on a night out at the Royal Hotel in Bondi last week<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The Bulldogs today as a result were short-handed, with three debutants – Falakiko Manu, Bailey Biondi-Odo and Christopher Patolo – all coming into the squad. The club during the week also lost experienced pair Nick Cotric and Adam Elliot to injuries.<\/p>\n

"We had a lot of blokes on report [today] and the injuries we've got with Nick Cotric and Adam Elliot through the week, certainly don't help," Barrett told reporters after the match.<\/p>\n

"We haven't got anyone coming back next week yet. We have to get in there on Monday.<\/p>\n

"What we've got in there [now] is what we've got. We've got some young kids in there and it was certainly not ideal to throw them in there in these circumstances. But we didn't have a choice.<\/p>\n

"We need to keep them up and keep them going. They've got some ability some of those kids. They're going to be good players, but they're probably a few years away.<\/p>\n

"We've got to look after them."<\/p>\n

He said the club was let down by the breach from the five players and said he hoped they understood the position it put the Bulldogs in.<\/p>\n

"I hope they feel disappointed with themselves after having to watch their teammates do that," he told reporters after the match. "It's disappointing."<\/p>\n

"It's not nice to do that. I would've loved to bring Bailey Biondi-Odo and Chris Patolo into a full-strength team when we are a big chance of winning the game.<\/p>\n

"That's one they're not going to want to remember. The whole club wasn't happy about it."<\/p>\n
