The son of former Sydney Roosters league star Trevor Paterson has been selected to go the Olympics with the Australian rugby Sevens team.<\/p>\n
Henry Paterson, a 24-year-old forward, was named in the 12-man Australian team announced this morning.<\/p>\n
"I am one proud dad," Trevor, a former Brisbane Rothmans Medalist who played for the Roosters in the 1980s, told Wide World of Sports.<\/p>\n
"He has had a tough journey and this is his reward."<\/p>\n

Henry was hoping to follow in his dad's footsteps at the Roosters but was cut by the club at the age of 18.<\/p>\n
Undeterred, he moved to rugby union, playing for Easts.<\/p>\n
But his career really took off when he linked up with trainer Justin Lang – the son of former Cronulla, Souths and Penrith coach John Lang.<\/p>\n
"John coached me in Brisbane and we won a comp together in 1983 so it's amazing that his son then coached my son," Trevor said.<\/p>\n
"Justin is a fine trainer and he developed a program for young guys like Henry, concentrating on skills, weights and speed and the like.<\/p>\n
"Henry would drive an hour to Cronulla every morning to start at 5am before putting in a full day's work and this is his reward."<\/p>\n
