John and Martin Lang were the most recent father-son combination to win a premiership when they steered the Panthers to grand final victory in 2003<\/a>, while Shane and Kyle Flanagan (Cronulla) and Bob and Scott Fulton (Manly) are also members of the rare club.<\/p>\n Kevin confirmed he was interested in stealing his son from the Tigers in a chat with Big Sports Breakfast.<\/p>\n "It'd be great (to have him up here)," Kevin said.<\/p>\n "What we've seen from him in his very short NRL career has been fantastic. He's got great instincts as a player and defensively he's very good.<\/p>\n "I'm not sure who taught him that," he laughed.<\/p>\n "He's got shoulders like rattlesnakes.<\/p>\n "He's got to get his leg right, first and foremost, which he's in the process of."<\/p>\n The Tigers would be eager to keep hold of Billy after the departures of playmakers Benji Marshall<\/a> and Josh Reynolds<\/a> at the end of season 2020, and if he left for the Broncos they would demand financial compensation or a player swap.<\/p>\n Billy played two NRL games with Melbourne in 2019 and added another eight at the Tigers in 2020.<\/p>\n His dad carried out an emotional jersey presentation in the Storm's sheds ahead of his debut match against the Dragons in Round 16, 2019<\/a>.<\/p>\n Billy has since played in a host of positions and his dad says his utility value is one of his most attractive traits.<\/p>\n "He can play several positions: six, seven or nine," Kevin said.<\/p>\n "He's got good utility value and good experience as well. He hasn't played a lot of NRL but he's played a lot of football coming through, so that's very important. We've got a lot of young players here at the Broncos, and that's great, but we also need to have some older and more experienced players."<\/p>\n Anthony Milford is expected to remain at five-eighth for the Broncos in 2021, while Tom Deardon and Brodie Croft are jostling for the number-seven jersey.<\/p>\n Kevin says Deardon and Croft are among a host of young Broncos standing out on the track in the wake of Brisbane's abysmal 2020 campaign, which saw them collect their first wooden spoon in their 22-year history<\/a>.<\/p>\n "Tommy Deardon is in that category. He's been very impressive and Brody Croft as well," Kevin said.<\/p>\n "Those two are obviously fighting it out for the number-seven jumper and I love the competitiveness they've shown at training.<\/p>\n "There are a couple of other boys – I don't want to put too much pressure on them – like Reece Walsh. He hasn't played any Intrust Super or NRL, but he's a very exciting young fullback. He's played in the lower grades for Queensland, but because of COVID and the like last year he didn't get the chance to play much footy.<\/p>\n "He looks to be another one who's quite exciting and Tenis Niu as well.
