Richmond's injury woes have gone from bad to worse with veteran defender Bachar Houli<\/a> to miss the remainder of the season due to ankle surgery. <\/p>\n

Houli was injured in the final quarter of Richmond's shock loss to the Gold Coast Suns<\/a> after hurting the syndesmosis joint on his left ankle while landing in a marking contest.<\/p>\n

The 33-year-old signed a one-year deal last season after being linked with moves away from the club and has been hounded by injuries throughout the year.<\/p>\n

Houli bravely played through a calf injury in Richmond's victorious grand final last year but paid the price for it this season with the injury causing him to miss the first three rounds.<\/p>\n

Incredibly Houli is the third Richmond defender to be dealing with a syndesmosis issue at the moment, with Noah Balta and Nathan Broad both injured last week. <\/p>\n

Richmond has endured a horror run with injuries this season, with Dion Prestia, Toby Nankervis and Kane Lambert all joining the syndesmosis trio on the sidelines. <\/p>\n

Despite averaging 22.9 disposals per game through 12 outings this season, Houli's latest injury puts his future in doubt given he is out of contract at the end of the year.<\/p>\n

Richmond is currently clinging to a finals spot in eighth on the ladder, but could potentially end Round 16 as low as 11th if the GWS Giants, Fremantle and Essendon all secure wins.<\/p>\n

However, despite the injury woes the club is currently dealing with, Houli said the reigning premiers had not lost hope of claiming a third straight flag.<\/p>\n

"Of course it is. It's definitely still there," he told reporters when asked if the hunger still remained.<\/p>\n

"We're all hungry, we're all up and about and we want to win just like every other team. <\/p>\n

"The season is not done yet, that's for sure. We're still around the eight so the reality is we've got to get a win or two on the board and get that self belief back because that's what happens when you lose games, especially games like what we've done in the last couple of weeks."<\/p>\n
