Nick Kyrgios<\/a> has conceded he's no certainty to take his place in the Australian team for this month's Tokyo Olympics, just days after being named in the squad.<\/a><\/p>\n

Kyrgios, along with Ash Barty<\/a>, was one of eight debutants included in the 11-strong Australian tennis team.<\/p>\n

But the situation became clouded when the Australian also entered an ATP tournament in Atlanta, being held the same week as the Tokyo Games.<\/p>\n

"I've also entered Atlanta," Kyrgios said.<\/p>\n

"I'm tossing up my options at the same time. I've heard some things about the Olympics, that are very tough, restrictions wise.<\/p>\n

"No guests, none of that stuff."<\/p>\n

Kyrgios has endured a patchy relationship with the Australian Olympic Committee. In 2016, he was involved in a public slanging match with Australia's then-chef-de-mission, Kitty Chiller.<\/p>\n

Chiller said Kyrgios' behaviour suggested he didn't "understand what it means to be an Australian Olympian" to which Kyrgios responded by making fun of Chiller's 14th place finish in the pentathlon at the Sydney Games, and then making himself unavailable for selection.<\/p>\n

Last year, AOC boss John Coates said Kyrgios would be welcome in future Olympic teams.<\/p>\n

"I'm not even thinking that far," Kyrgios said.<\/p>\n

"Obviously with the outside noise of not having Kitty Chiller telling me, 'You don't deserve to be there' when I was (ranked) 13 in the world.<\/p>\n

"It was laughable. I went back and forth. I was a bit younger back then and I got a bit personal.<\/p>\n

\"Nick<\/p>\n

"She was like, 'Nah, Kyrgios is done'."<\/p>\n

The 26-year-old conceded that dispute is now water under the bridge, and he'd welcome the opportunity to represent Australia.<\/p>\n

"It's good not to have that outside noise now. If I choose to play, I feel like I'm part of the group, I'm more embraced now, which is good," he said.<\/p>\n

"We've got a strong team, but I'm just trying to get through this (Wimbledon).<\/p>\n

"I've got a lot on my plate."<\/p>\n

Kyrgios is through to the third round at Wimbledon<\/a>, after downing Italian Gianluca Mager 7-6 (9-7) 6-4 6-4.<\/a> He now plays the 16th seed, Canadian Felix Auger-Aliassime, for a spot in the second week.<\/p>\n

It's the Australian's first tournament since playing in Melbourne in February, and his first overseas event in 16 months, and he conceded his fitness isn't where it needs to be, which could be a factor in his Olympics decision.<\/p>\n

"At this moment in time, I'm just trying to get through my matches here. Obviously, physically I am struggling a lot. After that five setter against (Ugo) Humbert, and not really playing a match for so long, I've definitely pulled up very sore today.<\/p>\n

"I thought I was going to struggle physically today, to be honest. I'm not even thinking that far."<\/p>\n
