Adelaide fear captain Rory Sloane may have played his last AFL game of the season after the star midfielder suffered a finger injury in yesterday's 10-point loss to Carlton<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Sloane posted 23 touches and four tackles in a typically hard-working performance against Carlton at Marvel Stadium.<\/p>\n

But Crows coach Matthew Nicks conceded in his post-match press conference that the 221-game inspiration had succumbed to a "high-grade tendon injury" to a finger.<\/p>\n

"Fingers crossed on that but to be honest we're a bit concerned," Nicks said.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n

"We had another player with a similar injury earlier in the year – Lochie Gollant – and he missed a reasonably substantial amount of time.<\/p>\n

"We're not exactly sure yet, we'll have to get that scanned and checked out, but it looks like there's a possibility that we may miss (Sloane) for a while."<\/p>\n

Young Adelaide midfielder Gollant underwent surgery on a similar finger injury in March and missed about two months of footy.<\/p>\n

If Sloane is facing a similar timeframe in rehabilitation the 31-year-old might be about to forget this season and lift his eyes to 2022.<\/p>\n

"That's the fear at the moment if it is the same injury," Nicks said.<\/p>\n

"It's one of those injuries that takes time.<\/p>\n

"He's an incredible leader on-field so we won't jump to that conclusion yet, but we'll wait and see what comes of it."<\/p>\n

A fractured hand sidelined Sloane for several weeks last year and limited him to just 12 games.<\/p>\n

Adelaide are set to square off with Brisbane at Adelaide Oval on Saturday.<\/p>\n
