Swimming Australia<\/a> officials have met with Madeline Groves in what has been described as a "positive meeting" after her shock withdrawal from Australia's Olympic trials. <\/p>\n

Groves, an Olympic silver medallist, rocked the sport when she withdrew from the swimming trials, taking aim at the "misogynistic perverts"<\/a> surrounding the sport in Australia. <\/p>\n

After initially being unable to get in touch with Groves, Swimming Australia president Kieren Perkins and CEO Alex Baumann were able to sit down with the 26-year-old. <\/p>\n

"It was a positive meeting," Groves' lawyer, Tim Fuller, said. <\/p>\n

"Further exploration needs to occur, but it was a positive first step. At this stage, no substantial detail of any complaints was provided to Swimming Australia due to confidentiality."<\/p>\n

Swimming Australia's meeting with Groves comes after the Sydney Morning Herald and The Age<\/a> reported hat six additional ex-swimmers had come forward with fresh complaints regarding "misconduct" in the sport.<\/p>\n

"Our aim today was to understand the concerns raised and today's meeting was productive," Swimming Australia said in a statement regarding the new claims.<\/p>\n

"Swimming Australia did not receive any information from new complainants."<\/p>\n

Swimming Australia has stated its intention to put together a panel to investigate the treatment of women in the sport<\/a>, but the individuals on the panel have not yet been named.<\/p>\n
