Ben Simmons'<\/a> agent has reportedly met with the Philadelphia 76ers <\/a>to get a better gauge on his client's future at the franchise.<\/p>\n

According to ESPN, Klutch Sports CEO Rich Paul met with 76ers general manager Elton Brand and president of basketball operations Daryl Morey during the NBA Draft Combine in Chicago.<\/p>\n

The report states Paul got in touch with the Sixers to see whether it makes sense to work together to find a trade before the start of next season.<\/p>\n

However, no request was made and talks will continue ahead of the July 29 NBA draft and August free agency.<\/p>\n

The 24-year-old All-Star's immediate future is under a cloud following a poor showing in this year's playoffs<\/a> which replicated the struggles of his past post-season performances. <\/p>\n

The display prompted head coach Doc Rivers to say he didn't know if the 76ers could win a title with Simmons at point guard<\/a> immediately after the game.<\/p>\n

Rivers said the day after the Game 7 loss that Philadelphia were committed to helping Simmons succeed.<\/p>\n

He met with Simmons this week to discuss a plan for improving his shooting.<\/p>\n

Morey said the 76ers were eliminated from the playoffs because they "didn't have enough good players."<\/p>\n

"We need to be a better offensive team," Morey said.<\/p>\n

"Frankly if we're squeaking by the second round, that just tells me we're unfortunately not good enough … to win the title, so we need to get better."<\/p>\n

Sources told ESPN Morey is hesitant to break up the pair of Embiid and Simmons but everything is on the table following the No.1 seed's early playoff exit.<\/p>\n

ESPN reported the 76ers remained committed to keeping Simmons, who has four years remaining on his current contract worth $US147 million ($A194 million).<\/p>\n
