Controversial globetrotting league star Israel Folau<\/a> has finally made contact with his club Catalans after nearly six months of silence.<\/p>\n

But contrary to claims made by Folau's mentor Clive Palmer, no agreement has been reached to allow the former dual international to play for Southport Tigers on the Gold Coast.<\/a><\/p>\n

Folau is still under contract to the French club despite walking out early in the year and then breaking his promise to return.<\/p>\n

Under league laws, he cannot play with Southport<\/a> until his contract with Catalans expires in November, or he is granted a release.<\/p>\n

"No agreement has been reached but we are hopeful of being able to resolve the deadlock," said Catalans' football manager Alex Chan.<\/p>\n

A Catalans insider said it now comes down to dollars and cents – and how much Palmer is willing to pay the club to secure a release.<\/p>\n

"It's progress because up until now Izzy hadn't had the decency to speak to the Dragons," the insider said.<\/p>\n
