Controversial Aussie tennis star Bernard Tomic<\/a> got his Wimbledon qualifying campaign off to a winning start but couldn't resist some trademark theatrics in his post-match interview.<\/p>\n

The world No.224 came back from a set down to defeat Blaz Kavcic 4-6 6-4 6-3 and admitted he struggled with nerves while trying to get home.<\/p>\n

"Yeah it was tough, I couldn't really turn on my backhand side and I kind of shat myself,' he said, leaving BBC commentator John Inverdale to apologise to the TV audience for the profanity.<\/p>\n

"Absolutely everything feels irritating at that moment, the wind, the ball kids, everything.<\/p>\n

\"Bernard<\/p>\n

"I haven't played grass in two years so playing a first match and winning is huge.<\/p>\n

"These moments \u2013 I've played many, many matches on grass so I'm comfortable \u2013 they're tough to get out of so it was important to hold there."<\/p>\n

The world No. 224, formerly a world No. 17, once reached the quarter-finals of the main Wimbledon draw 10-years ago.<\/p>\n

The Aussie has had somewhat of a comeback in recent times, making it through to the second-round of the Australian Open earlier this year.<\/p>\n

Tomic said he was happy he showed the resilience to eventually come home with the win after dropping the first set.<\/p>\n

"I was a bit nervous. I haven't played Wimbledon for a few years and the last couple I haven't really gone too well, you know," he said.<\/p>\n

"I played so well here in the past, played quarters, last-16, third round so I mean for me I'm always comfortable on grass, it's my best surface but my head needs to be in the right place.<\/p>\n

"For me, losing that first set today and coming back was huge."<\/p>\n

Tomic next faces, Spain's Bernabe Zapata Miralles, who defeated Italy's Alessandro Giannessi in round one.<\/p>\n
