The Melbourne Storm have lured former Eels forward Tepai Moeroa back to the NRL following a stint in Super Rugby.<\/p>\n

Moeroa was today granted a release from the NSW Waratahs and will see out the remainder of 2021 with the Storm on a short-term deal.<\/p>\n

The 25-year-old joined the Waratahs last year on a two-year<\/a> deal after playing 112 games with the Eels between 2014 and 2019.<\/p>\n

But as he made a switch from an NRL back-rower to a centre in the 15-man code, Moeroa saw limited time on the field in Super Rugby due to injury, while much of his tenure was played out in Sydney's Shute Shield.<\/p>\n

"Tepai proved to be a very dependable player when he was with the Eels and we think he will be a good addition to our squad for the rest of this year," Storm general manager Frank Ponissi said.<\/p>\n

"He's still in his mid-20s so he's in the prime of his football career.<\/p>\n

"We would like to place on record our thanks to the Australian Rugby Union and NSW Waratahs for their co-operation with Tepai's release from his current contract."<\/p>\n

Moeroa will link up with the Storm on the Sunshine Coast later this week.<\/p>\n

During his NRL career, Moeroa represented the Cook Islands, the Prime Minister's XIII and the World All-Stars.<\/p>\n
