Queensland have been left to lament an undisciplined play from State of Origin debutant Kyle Feldt which indirectly led to the Blues' opening try of Origin I<\/a>.<\/p>\n

With NSW holding a 2-0 lead in the 17th minute, a grubber kick from James Tedesco<\/a> towards the right corner bounced out of play, but the Blues were awarded a penalty and another six tackles due to Feldt taking out a rampaging Josh Addo-Carr<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Replays showed that Queensland fullback Valentine Holmes would have comfortably got to the ball before Addo-Carr, had the NSW flyer not been blocked by Feldt.<\/p>\n

Following the restart, NSW again went down the right side, with a cut-out pass from Nathan Cleary finding Tom Trbojevic<\/a> for the opening try of the match, leaving Origin greats Peter Sterling and Billy Slater questioning Feldt's head-scratching play.<\/p>\n

"That's a bad error from the Maroons' defence, he was never going to get there, Josh Addo-Carr," Sterling said on Nine's coverage. "Totally unnecessary."<\/p>\n

"You just can't afford to give away a penalty like that. We knew that discipline was going to be so important in this game tonight on so many different fronts.<\/p>\n

"Kyle Feldt just couldn't help himself, he just turned and dropped the shoulder into Josh Addo-Carr and the Blues took advantage of the invitation."<\/p>\n

"He had no faith in Valentine Holmes at the back, he had this covered and the ball was going dead," Slater added.<\/p>\n
