Champion Sydney<\/a> midfielder Josh Kennedy is on track to join the 300-game club after penning a new one-year deal with the Swans, tying himself to the club until the end of 2022.<\/p>\n

The Sydney co-captain has played 270 AFL games and, if he features in every one of the Swans' remaining 2021 regular-season matches, he'll head into his 2022 campaign with another 20 games to reach the major milestone.<\/p>\n

Bolstering Kennedy's chances of becoming just the fifth triple centurion in Swans history is the fact that Sydney are highly likely to make a return to finals footy this season. Coach John Longmire's men are placed sixth on the ladder on 32 competition points after the opening 12 rounds of their 2021 campaign.<\/p>\n

Adam Goodes (372 games), Jude Bolton (325), Jarrad McVeigh (325) and Michael O'Loughlin (303) are the only members of the Swans' 300-match club.<\/p>\n

Kennedy has compiled a glittering resume since switching from Hawthorn to Sydney after season 2009, winning a premiership with the Swans in 2012, claiming three club champion awards, becoming a three-time All Australian and finishing third in the 2014 and 2017 Brownlow Medal counts.<\/p>\n

"Walking into the club feels like I am walking in the front door of home and it's something special and I don't think that will ever change," Kennedy told sydneyswans.com.au<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The fresh deal of the inspirational Swan, who's set to turn 33 this month, will see him continue to guide the club's exciting crop of youngsters.<\/p>\n

James Rowbottom, Oliver Florent, Will Hayward and Logan McDonald are among the many young Swans shining in the AFL.<\/p>\n

"I'm really excited about the group we have at the moment and where we can go," Kennedy said.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n

"They are a really young, talented and enthusiastic group and I am enjoying getting out there and competing with them each week.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n

"One of my major goals is to get us back up to competing for finals and if I can be around long enough for that to happen that would make me very proud."<\/p>\n

Kennedy shares the Swans' co-captaincy with midfielder Luke Parker and defender Dane Rampe.<\/p>\n

The Swans will face the Hawks at the SCG on Friday night.<\/p>\n
