A second English cricketer is being investigated over historic social media posts, just days after fast bowler Ollie Robinson was suspended following his debut Test.<\/a><\/p>\n

Wisden.com has identified and published a racist tweet sent by a current England player, whose identity is being concealed because he was under 16 at the time. The Daily Mail reports that he has played Test cricket in 2021.<\/p>\n

Wisden did include some details of the post, which contained the message "your going out with a asian" (sic) along with the hashtags: "Asianthroughandthrough", "hweolloo" and "ch—y'.<\/p>\n

"It has been brought to our attention that an England player has posted historic offensive material on their social media account," the ECB said.<\/p>\n

"We are looking into it and will make a further comment in due course."<\/p>\n

Robinson's Test debut was wrecked by the publication of a string of sexist and racist messages<\/a> that he posted on Twitter from 2012-14.<\/p>\n

He took seven wickets for the match, but was yesterday suspended from international cricket pending a disciplinary hearing<\/a> over the tweets, which were written when he was 18 and 19 years old.<\/p>\n

"Robinson will leave the England camp immediately and return to his county," the ECB said.<\/p>\n

The punishment has divided the England community, with Culture Secretary Oliver Dowden calling the suspension "over the top" and suggesting the ECB "think again".<\/p>\n

He had the backing of Prime Minister Boris Johnson.<\/p>\n

"As Oliver Dowden set out, these were comments made more than a decade ago, written by someone as a teenager, and for which they have rightly apologised," a spokesperson for the Prime Minster said.<\/p>\n

But former England batsman Michael Carberry, who last year said black players put their careers at risk if they spoke out about prejudice, said it's Dowden who needs to reconsider his position.<\/p>\n

"I think Oliver Dowden needs to come and spend a day with me and live a day in my shoes, and a day in the shoes of most BAME (black, Asian and minority ethnic) community people, and actually speak from a place of facts and reason," Carberry told Sky Sports.<\/p>\n

"(Footballer) Marcus Rashford only two or three weeks ago was trying to do some good in the world, using his platforms and various means. He's trying to do some good in the world for kids of all colours, all races, all backgrounds.<\/p>\n

"He's trying to do some good, [and he] gets racially abused – I don't hear Oliver Dowden piping up.<\/p>\n

\"Ollie<\/p>\n

"So as far as I am concerned I have no respect for what his comments are about.<\/p>\n

"He has never been racially abused, he's never been racially discriminated against, so as far as I see it, it's coming from a place of no facts or no reason."<\/p>\n

Carberry, who played the last of his six Tests against Australia in Sydney in 2014, was a member of the Perth Scorchers BBL side in BBL04 and BBL05.<\/p>\n

He said his reaction to the news Robinson had posted racists tweets was one of resignation.<\/p>\n

"Here we go again," he said.<\/p>\n

"It further backs up what I said last year, that the game has a massive problem.<\/p>\n

"Until people start to deal with the problem, I am one of those – and I can speak for most of my community – we are not interested in proposals or what cricket is proposing to do.<\/p>\n

"We need to start seeing action. Good on the ECB for suspending Ollie Robinson."<\/p>\n
